History of Braiform

Plastiform: Plastiform, a USA hanger manufacturer with niche value add in the "top sizing" concept, pioneered the Hanger Re-use Program and was acquired by Spotless in 1990.

Re-use Partnership: Target and Braitrim US partner in the first ever Closed Loop Re-use Program, manually removing sizers from garment hangers.

Hanger Re-use UK: First Braiform UK Re-use Centre opens in Dudley UK. The Braiform UK Re-use Facility is now located in Sheffield, UK.

Braitrim: Braitrim was the leading European hanger and packaging supplier based in London. Spotless acquired Braitrim in the year 2000.

Braiform: In 2003, Spotless consolidated the two acquired businesses. Plastiform and Braitrim now become Braiform.

Hanger Accessory Re-use: Braiform US and Target introduce automated sizer re-use.

Ownership Change: Braiform changes ownership from Spotless to Pacific Equity Partners (PEP), a large private equity firm.

The MBO: Management buyout by senior leadership members Graeme Rutherford and Ben Hunt, resulting in Braiform becoming a privately-owned company.

Today’s Braiform: Today Braiform supplies in excess of 2.5 billion hangers, re-uses 1 billion and recycles 250 million each year.

Alongside the garment hanger division Braiform has a complimentary packaging division creating value add products, services and solutions.

Graeme, who is based in London, has held various senior sales positions during his fifteen years at Braiform. Prior to the MBO in 2013 Graeme managed an extensive client base spread across the Americas, Europe and Asia and was also responsible for all Braiform design and product development.

Graeme is an accomplished executive and equipped with a commanding track record of combining innovative commercial and sales management techniques to successfully grow and transform a business.

Prior to Braiform Graeme worked in the print industry as a reprographer and trained as a toolmaker within the injection moulding industry.

Graeme also owns 100% of Braiform along with Ben Hunt.

Ben Hunt joined Braiform in 2000 after working for Barclays Bank and British Midland Airways. During his time at Braiform Ben has held several senior executive positions covering general management, sales and marketing, operations, licensee development and human resources.

At Braiform, Ben has lived and worked in the UK, Sri Lanka, China and Hong Kong with a strong and demonstrable track record of success prior to the 2013 MBO covering business development, restructures, new market entries and profit improvement programmes.

Ben is currently based in Hong Kong and owns 100% of Braiform along with Graeme Rutherford. Ben holds an MBA from the University of Sunderland.

Peter White Non-Executive Director

Peter White started his career in 1968 and worked in the commercial forestry sector for 12 years.

In 1980 Peter joined the retail services industry in a sales role, subsequently being invited in 1985 to join Braiform (previously Braitrim) in a senior sales position. Peter was swiftly promoted through the sales, marketing and key account functions and in 1988 achieved Group Main Board status. Under his custodianship, sales and earnings grew significantly, entirely through organic growth.

Peter retired in 2007 and after a period of consultancy, focusing on company culture and investment in people, he has concentrated on charity work.

Due to Peter’s extensive knowledge and experience within the retail industry Peter was invited in 2013 to join Braiform as a Non-executive Director.

Martin Green Non-Executive Director

Martin Green is from the financial sector and after a number of years at Ernst & Young, Martin spent more than 10 years with Consolidated Press Holdings (CPH), the private investment company of the Packer family from Australia.

Martin was involved in many of the largest and most successful transactions undertaken by CPH including the acquisition of Crown Casino. Other industries covered by investments included Australia's second largest meat processor and exporter, land ownership, international aid, women's fashion retail, global skin care brand (Jurlique), financial services, Red Rooster Fast Food and various telecommunications, software and internet companies.

Across these investments, Martin was involved in sourcing and analysing deals, strategy, acquisition and sale of businesses and ongoing directorships and management.

Since leaving CPH in 2009, Martin has been based in Hong Kong and has used his extensive network, to build a portfolio of private interests in a wide range of industries as well as sitting on a number of Boards.

Martin holds a BA (Hons) in Accounting and Finance and qualified as a Chartered Accountant in London. Martin joined Braiform as a Non-executive Director in 2013.

Kim Denning Non-Executive Director

Kim has 30 years’ experience in the retail industry with the majority of those based in Hong Kong as Managing Director for Arcadia, responsible for sourcing and manufacturing in Asia. Kim grew the Arcadia Asia operations and transitioned the loss making business into a profit-making full service operation providing design, manufacturing and quality control services to all of the Arcadia brands as well as numerous independent retailers. Before moving to Hong Kong, Kim worked for French Connection in South Africa.

Kim joined the Braiform Board as a Non-Executive Director in February 2017 and brings an extensive network of contacts from the retail industry particularly in South Africa, the UK and Asia adding another layer of expertise and input to Braiform’s existing Board.

Jane Robson Non-Executive Director

Jane’s background is in the fashion, retail and manufacturing sectors. Jane has spent more than 20 years living overseas in Europe and the Far East gaining extensive experience within the garment supply chain including design, manufacturing, and sales. A significant part of Jane’s career was spent building a global supply base for Next, pioneering new sourcing regions, building manufacturing facilities, and setting up and developing local offices with a strong focus on training and mentoring teams around the globe.

Jane has an intimate understanding of the retail industry and its supply chain. Jane joined the Braiform Board as a Non-Executive Director in March 2017.

Paul Williams President EMEA

Paul joined Braiform in 2014. He has global responsibility for Operations and Sales for the EMEA and is a member of Braiform’s “Senior Executive Team”. Paul lives in London and works out of our office in London UK.

He has over 27 + years of multi-industry experience, 20 of which were focused in the Global Logistics and Supply Chain industry. Paul held a number of senior executive positions before forming his own successful Global Logistics Company, which he sold prior joining Braiform.

Andy Zuckerman President Americas

Andrew joined Braiform in 2015. He has global responsibility for Americas related sales, U.S.reuse operations, distribution and is a member of the Braiform’s “Senior Executive Team”. Andrew lives in New York City and works out of our office in Manhattan, NY.

Andrew has over 40+ years of multi-industry experience (30 of which in the hanger industry) as an executive of entrepreneurial ventures and billion dollar divisions of diversified worldwide manufacturing businesses producing and distributing consumer products and commercial/industrial goods worldwide.

At Tyco International, he developed cohesive teams from disparate acquisitions and business cultures, and capitalized on under-utilized people and technical assets to deliver unprecedented top and bottom-line performance. Structured and executed strategies including organic growth, portfolio expansion/rationalization, and M&A/divestitures to maximize corporate/ shareholder value.

Mona Ma Chief Financial Officer

Mona Ma re-joined Braiform in 2016. She is based in Hong Kong. Mona first joined Braiform in 2007 as Regional Finance Controller for Asia. Mona was also responsible for the American region in 2014.

Mona has many years finance and operational experiences in multinational companies with 17 years in senior management roles. Prior to Braiform, Mona worked in various industries included cosmetics & skin care, freight & logistics and industrial machinery & equipment. Mona is an MBA holder, the member of CPA Canada & CMA Australia as well as the fellow member of ACCA UK.
